An original photograph is an artistic photographic image, printed on photographic paper, that has been created by the photographer. This is in contrast to prints that are reproductions of an original photograph.
My philosophy on how to take a great original photograph is very simple. Before I take the shot, when looking through the lens, I ask myself, If I saw this photograph, composed in this way, hanging on a wall...
Would I take a second look?
Would I think, that's a great shot?
Would I think, that's got impact?
Would I think, that moves me?
Would I think that this is a beautiful moment in time, that will never be repeated again in exactly the same way?
If the answer is no to all those questions, I adjust the shot or don't take it.
If the answer is yes, to any of the above, I make sure that
I have the right settings on my camera for the shot (you can use auto settings for the type of shot it is. Eg. Portrait setting for a portrait.)
I have enough light for the shot
The shot is in focus.
I then take the photograph. It is as simple as that.
